How to Find Your Mate

It’s a crazy dating world these days–so crazy that you may have started to feel that you are never going to find the mate of your dreams! You may have already experienced every dating disaster you could possibly imagine, but don’t give up! Follow these simple tips, and you will happily find your mate in no time.

  1. Be picky. Just because it seems like everyone else around you is in a relationship doesn’t mean you should settle for just anyone in order to be in a relationship, too. Think about your own interests and find someone who shares them with you–or at least cares enough about you to take time to do the things you love. You don’t have to have everything in common, but you should at least enjoy spending time together!
  2. Be selfish. When looking for the person who is going to spend the rest of your life with you, think about yourself first. Does that person treat you well, or do they prefer to be with their friends rather than you? Are they demanding of you, or do they seek to meet your needs? Answering these questions early in the relationship can keep you from certain disaster later.
  3. Meet their family and friends. You can quickly learn a lot about your potential mate by seeing how he or she behaves with family and friends. On a date, you will only see the side of them that is trying to impress you, but people tend to act more like themselves when around the people who know them the best. If they treat the ones they love well, you may be fortunate to be one of those well-treated people in the near future.
  4. Watch for early warning signs. If your potential mate is constantly canceling on you, beware! This could be the early sign that they just aren’t as interested in you as you are in them. Watch out if they are spending more of their free time with friends than with you because this is probably how your life will always be. Pay attention to your potential mate’s habits, and give them the heave-ho if they aren’t meeting your standards for your dream mate!
  5. Relax and have fun. One of the best ways to kill a relationship before it has even started is to be too eager for a relationship. Unfortunately, you’re probably going to have to go out on some pretty awful dates before you find the one you really want. The advantage, however, of going on all those bad dates is that you will be even more confident of what you want when you find your perfect mate.
